Project 07 / Training / Technical Education

Engineering courses written by engineers who ran the equipment.

A provincial technical-education body needed training courses that teach the way industry actually works. We wrote the courses from the equipment outward, every lesson by engineers who had run it themselves.

The Project

Courses taught from books, for jobs that run on equipment.

A provincial technical-education body was training technicians and engineers, but the courses were written from books, not from the equipment students would actually work on.

The brief was practical: write training courses that teach the way industry actually works, so a graduate can walk up to a machine and know what to check, what to measure, and what safe operation looks like.

Every course was written by engineers who had run the equipment themselves, built around real tasks instead of chapter summaries.

The result: courses ready to teach, grounded in the equipment and the work students will actually meet on the job.

What was going wrong

Students were passing exams without being ready for the workshop floor.

The courses described equipment; they did not teach how to run it, check it, or keep it safe.

How we ran it

We wrote the courses from the equipment outward: what to check, what to measure, what safe operation looks like.

Every lesson came from engineers who had run the equipment themselves, not from a textbook summary.

Where it landed

Training courses ready to teach, grounded in the equipment students will actually meet.

The same taught-by-people-who-did-the-work approach is available for client teams today.

Our Method

How the work ran

The same five stages we run on every engagement, applied here. Hover or tap a stage to see what it covered.

What the institute got

The deliverables, written to be taught

Every item below was written by engineers who had run the equipment, for students who would go on to run it.

  • Training courses written from the equipment outward
  • Lesson material tied to real tasks and real checks
  • Safe-operation guidance built into every course
  • Material an instructor can teach from directly

What it added up to

What this engagement produced, and the evidence base behind the team that wrote it.

0 provincial training program, written by working engineers
0 lessons written from books alone
0 peer-reviewed publications behind the engineers who wrote them
